4th ACCP Assembly

Effective municipal solid waste management (MSWM) remains a critical challenge in many African cities, where it is often under-prioritized, limiting access to essential financial and technical resources. Strengthening governance frameworks and enhancing policy effectiveness at both national and local levels are vital steps toward improving MSWM systems. Equally important is the development of sustainable financial mechanisms to ensure long-term, resilient, and inclusive waste management across all levels of government. Securing political commitment, which is key to addressing persistent financial gaps, is pivotal to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 4th African Clean Cities Platform (ACCP) Assembly aims to evaluate progress achieved thus far and define strategic focus areas for the next three years. Through thematic sessions and dialogues aligned with emerging global and regional trends in MSWM, the Assembly will harness insights and commitments from member states and cities to drive tangible and transformative action.
